And then he walked along the edge of the Circle

This is the place where we will post your stories about the Green's Playhouse, The Glasgow Apollo and Satelitte City (The Wee Apollo). As it develops we will break the stories up into sections such as Myths, Gigs I missed, Meeting the Bands, Where are they now etc. No story too trivial and we will only edit out bad language!

New Forum structure on Apollomemories soon.

Comments on Roxy Music [reply]

April 1973 & 85p bought my mates and I front seat tickets for Roxy Music's first gig in Glasgow.
The decaying Greens Playhouse was the ideal venue for Roxy Music's glamour. From the opening 'Do the Strand'right through to the encores, the whole audience were on their feet and the atmosphere was brilliant. It says something for the band that the two hit singles, 'Virginia Plain' and'Pyjamarama' were saved for the encores.
A year later, when Bryan Ferry was touring solo for the first time, we managed to meet Bryan & Chris Spedding by hanging out at the stage door after the afternoon soundcheck. At the time, my proudest possession was a photo of Bryan Ferry standing beside me - Bryan looking cool in black leather coat & shades, me in my Glasgow academy school uniform. Wish I'd kept the photo.

Was there when Radio Clyde recorded the High Road EP.  I remember getting goose pimples when they played Avalon. [reply]
