| what a gig ! ...what a venue ! Peter Gabriel entered via the Stalls and was lifted
onto the stage by the fans, one of the best concerts I have ever seen, just when
everyone was starting to leave and the roadies had started dismantling their kit
Peter came back on stage an sang a brilliant rendition of "Here comes the
flood" alone just with on the keyboard himself ....superb ...my memories of
the Apollo will never fade

| That's one of my favourite concerts. The lights were amazing - first time I'd seen
the little remote controlled Varilights. Music wasn't too bad either! I also remember
Peter making a b*llocks of the Here Come The Flood encore, apologising and starting
again from the start.

| Saw him on his "Tour of China 1984" (I think) with the Mao's 'little red
book' programme. Great gig and lightshow. One thing that sticks in my mind though was
the way he spoiled "Humdrum" (one of my favourites) by making popping
noises with his finger in his mouth all the way through it! The solo stuff with just
him at the piano was fantastic.

| Neil, is this the 1980 (Gabriel 3) gig your talking about? He did enter via the
stalls carrying hand held spotlights with the rest of the band who then climbed up 3
step ladders onto the stage. Gabriel came down through centre of venue. Brilliant
entrance and fantastic gig.

| He sang the start of Waiting for the big one from the third box up on the right hand
side. Also he did play Slowburn and I Heard It Through The Grapevine! This was
my first concert (and Gabriel's second solo) and still ranks as one of the best!

| Seen him in 1983, last gig that I went to at the Apollo. Bassist Tony Levin was
great. Played a weird bass called a stick. Gabriel crowd surfed on his back during
the song 'Lay Your Hands On Me' Great gig.

| My memory of the Sep '77 gig - his frst solo tour - isthat Gabriel did every track
from the first album, unusual for performers even then. But Slowburn isn't on the set
list ... ?
The lighting for Moribund the Burgermeister had Gabriel astride a
frame of white spotlights shining up from below, emphasising the gutteral lines
"I will find out."
Even on this first tour, Tony Levien was playing
the bass stick, and sounded magnificent. He also made some contribution to the
barbership quartet on "Excuse Me."
The "Back in
NYC" encore was utterly electric. The man was and remains a genius.
